A few months after we moved to London my mom and her husband opened a frozen yogurt business called Spoon Me. It is one of those new self-service fro-yo places, but what that means for me is anytime we go back home (to Ohio) we can get all the free frozen yogurt we want. Of course if I am going to spend $800+ a person on airfare for a family of five to fly back to Ohio, I better get some frozen yogurt out of the deal! Since my kids can't enjoy the free frozen yogurt that Grandma offers, I thought I'd try and make some of my own.
We get fresh yogurt delivered to us once a week from the milk man. The yogurt comes from a small diary farm less than 10 miles away. The natural yogurt that I get is unsweetened, so it has a bit of a tart taste to it.
Since this yogurt is unsweetened and unflavored, I used 3 cups of yogurt, 2 cups of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla. These measurements can be played around with, but bare in mind that the sugar helps the yogurt from freezing into a solid block of ice.
Once I mixed all the ingredients together,
I poured it into the frozen ice cream maker bowl.
This is what it looks like when it is done in the ice cream maker.
Ice cream makers doesn't mix it until it is completely solid,
so it requires a few hours of freezing before it can be served.
My mom tells me about all the yummy toppings they offer
at their fro-yo shops, so I added some blueberries to mine.

Besides - if you're going to fly "home" you need to fly to Georgia!
